Requirement

  1. Smooth non stick mat
  2. Petal cutter (for four petals)
  3. Veiners
  4. Leaf cutters
  5. Rolling pin
  6. Ball tool
  7. Sugar paste  or fondant
  8. Food colour
  9. Tooth pick
  10. Sponge
  11. Edible glue
  12. Petal base
  13. Corn flour and icing powder to dust surface

Method

Intricate and detailed vein embossers are present which can emboss a leaf and the vein pattern looks as close to natural leaves.
Here I am using leaf cutters and leaf plungers. Take a small ball around an inch in diameter of green sugar paste

1) Place the sugar paste   ball over the mat and roll it flat with the help of rolling pin

2) Slide your spatula underneath the sheet and place it over the leaf cutter.

3) The edges of cutter should be greased with the petal base. Roll the rolling pin over the sheet such that clean lines are obtained and the leaf doesn’t have fuzzy edges.

4) Place the cutter on the mat and press the plunger on the surface of mat a clear pattern of veins will be formed.

5)Place the leaf over sponge and softened the edges with the help of ball tool. And let it dry and use it to decorate cup cakes. Ball tool is used to softened edges and for the leaves and petals to look a bit thin and realistic. This leaf can be consumed as it is not on wire.

With the help of plunger cutters fondants can be cut be in the form of leaves and can be consumed straight away. The colour used to brush the leaves are Holly Green and Poppy red in the picture.
