Channay ki daal ka halva (lentils sweet dish)

Ingredients

  • ½ kilo daal chaana/Split Bengal gram
  • ½ kilo whole milk
  • ½ kilo sugar
  • Almonds as required
  • Pistachio as required
  • Grated coconut as required
  • Silver sheets for decoration
  • Ghee 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Wash the daal (lentils), soak the lentils/chaana daal for at least 2-3 hours. Wash again and strain. Heat the milk and add daal in it and cook till its soft and mushy and the milk has reduced and dried. Place in a blender and finely grind it. In a pot heat ghee and then add the grinded mixture, sugar and stirring on low to medium flame till the colour changes to light brown. Now add dry fruits and cook more for 15 minutes. Everything should be binding beautifully. Take it out on a try roll it out and make small portions of it. Garnish it with silver sheet and serve.
